Quebrada Entertainment To Executive Produce Colombian Short
Following the company’s new strategy to invest in diverse talent, Quebrada Entertainment has signed on to executive produce Colombian short, Hacienda Paraíso.
The film comes from Colombian-American director Erick Castrillon, who previously co-wrote & produced the award winning short Blast Beat which won Best Drama Award at the 2016 Official Latino Film Festival and the short Vamonos, which won awards at the NBCUniversal Short Film Festival 2016 & at the 2016 Imagen Awards. He’s represented by Carlos Bobadilla of Valor Entertainment and plans to make his directorial debut with Hacienda Paraíso to continue his path writing and directing feature films.
Taking place in the heart of the Colombian coffee belt, Hacienda Paraíso follows Clara Bedoya who returns to her native town where she faces her father’s senile dementia, her brother’s indifference, and the absence of her late mother. “Hacienda Paraíso at its core is a story about the fragility of memories and the strength of the human spirit when faced with death,” said Castrillon.
Erick Castrillon is part of Scratch & Sniff Pictures, a multicultural filmmaking collective which aims to fulfill the high demand for truthful Hollywood-style portrayals of underrepresented voices in modern media.
“We’re excited to be supporting such a promising film as Hacienda Paraíso. Part of our mission at Quebrada is to elevate young talent as well as provide diverse and exceptional content,” commented Ana Alicia, President, Quebrada Entertainment, “we’re sure this film will bring both it’s talented filmmakers and diverse storytelling to the forefront.”
